The story so far:
Emma Luddington and her family were looking to purchase a home in the beautiful county of Buckinghamshire. Early in 2020 they spotted a small plot of land on the riverside, with 4 houses under construction. Emma and her family immediately knew this would be the perfect location for them.
The site already had full planning approval, so the footprint and external appearance of Stowe End House came pre-determined. Luckily the original architectural designers, Neil Tanner Associates, had given consideration to Building Regulations requirements. This meant that some of the basic features of an age-friendly home were already in place.
After 12 months of pandemic lockdowns and building materials shortages, the construction of Stowe End House is now finally in full swing.
Small, simple design features make Stowe End more accessible
Some minor adjustments to the internal walls and doors were necessary to improve the accessibility of the house. These changes, along with careful detailing and product selection, mean that Stowe End promises to showcase all that is good about age-friendly design.
Future-proofed homes are coming of age
Stowe End will host many elegant (seemingly invisible) features that will make the home fit for all ages. In particular, look out for the future-proofing features that help maintain independence at home for longer in later life.
We will be working in partnership with some of the world’s most ingenious, design-led suppliers and manufacturers. Many of whom already excel in age-friendly, inclusive design.
